Terms of Service
Last updated: October 29, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and PIT ("we", "us"), which runs Recipe Box (the "Site"). By using the Site or creating an account, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Site.
1. Who can use the Site
Anyone may browse recipes. To create an account you must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission, and they agree to these Terms on your behalf. You may not use the Site if the law prohibits it or if we have previously banned you.
2. Your account
Give accurate information when you sign up, keep your password private, and use your account only for yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at admin@paytond.me if you think someone else has used it.
3. Your content
"Your content" means the recipes, text and photos you post. You keep ownership of your content. By posting it, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual and irrevocable license to host, store, copy, display, resize, reformat and distribute it on and through the Site, and to show it to other users.
While you have an account, you can delete any of your recipes, and we'll remove them from the Site. If you close your account or ask us to delete it, we may keep displaying the recipes and photos you've already posted. We will remove your name from them and show them as posted by a "Former member". If you don't want a recipe to stay on the Site, delete it before you close your account. We will still remove content when the law requires it, or if it shows a person or contains someone's personal information and they ask us to.
When you post content, you promise that:
- you created it, or you have permission to post it (for example, you took the photo yourself, or the owner allowed you to share it);
- it doesn't copy someone else's cookbook, blog post or photos without permission. Simple ingredient lists are generally not protected by copyright, but recipe write-ups and photos usually are, so put the method in your own words and credit your source;
- it doesn't break the law or anyone's rights, including privacy and publicity rights (don't post photos of other people without their permission).
4. Things you may not do
- Post anything illegal, infringing, hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit or violent.
- Post recipes or instructions meant to cause harm, or that misrepresent dangerous food as safe.
- Post spam, advertising, or links to malware or scams.
- Post other people's personal information.
- Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your connection with anyone.
- Get around our limits (such as daily upload limits or log-in limits), use automated tools to scrape the Site or create accounts, or try to access accounts or systems you're not allowed to.
- Interfere with the Site, its security, or other people's use of it.
5. Moderation
We don't review content before it's posted and we're not responsible for what users post. We may remove any content, or suspend or close any account, at any time and for any reason, including if we believe it breaks these Terms. We may also limit how much you can post.
6. Copyright complaints
We respect copyright. If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent: [AGENT NAME], [MAILING ADDRESS], [CONTACT EMAIL]. Your notice must include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- a description of the copyrighted work;
- the link to the content you say infringes it;
- your name, address, phone number and email;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by the owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
If we remove your content after a notice and you believe that was a mistake, you may send us a counter-notice as described in 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). We will close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe copyright.
7. Food safety, allergies and health
Recipes on the Site are written by users, not by us, and we don't test or check them. Cooking times, temperatures, quantities, and labels such as "Vegan", "Gluten-free" or "Nut-free" are chosen by the person who posted the recipe and may be wrong. Always check ingredients and labels yourself if you or anyone you're cooking for has a food allergy, intolerance or dietary need. Follow safe food-handling practices and cook food to safe temperatures. Nothing on the Site is medical, nutritional or professional advice.
8. Disclaimer
THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T PROMISE THAT THE SITE WILL BE AVAILABLE, ERROR-FREE OR SECURE, OR THAT CONTENT WILL BE KEPT.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, OR FOR ANY ILLNESS, INJURY OR DAMAGE ARISING FROM PREPARING OR EATING FOOD MADE FROM A RECIPE ON THE SITE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SITE IS LIMITED TO FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US$50). Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
10. Indemnity
If someone makes a claim against us because of content you posted or because you broke these Terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees, to the extent the law allows.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using the Site at any time, delete your recipes, or ask us to delete your account by emailing admin@paytond.me. When we delete your account, we delete your email address, password, display name and favorites; recipes you posted may stay on the Site as described in section 3. We may suspend or end your access as described in section 5. Sections 3, 6 to 10, and 12 continue after your account ends.
12. General
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be decided in the state or federal courts located in Rutherford County, Tennessee, unless the law where you live requires otherwise. If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part of these Terms, that isn't a waiver. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Site. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them if the Site changes hands.
We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell signed-in users on the Site or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using the Site after that, you accept the new Terms.
